Car free Sunday streets in Ahmedabad – An unique initiative by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Ahmedabad Traffic Police to make streets more pedestrian friendly. The atmosphere was abuzz with lot of activities, street shopping, streets food, horse ride and people with friends and families enjoying the evening at streets free from cars.
The Ahmedabad traffic department has, in a recent notification, declared three roads in the city to be made ‘vehicle-free zones’ every Sunday from 4pm to 11pm. The stretches from Swastik crossroads to Shilp crossroads on CG Road, Samartheshwar Mahadev crossroads to Gajjar Hall to NCC Campus at Law Garden and Pushpakunj swimming pool to Jaldhara Water World will now be ‘vehicle-free’ on Sunday evenings. A special credit to Ahmedabad Traffic Police for keeping the traffic flow smooth around the stretches. The traffic police were also seen politely explaining the vehicle owners on the concept of car free streets and no one was complaining.

Thanks for highlighting car free streets initiative in Ahmedabad. Please correct, Ahmedabad is in India and not in Pakistan.
Please do the needful.
