40% of carbon monoxide emissions come from cars. China is the world’s largest car market with over 500 million vehicles on the road, adding a huge impact to the environment.
China Environmental Protection Foundation asked the people to walk more and drive less using an attention grabbing tactic.
With the Green Pedestrian Crossing Campaign, each green footprint added to the road canvas is like leaves growing on a bare tree, which made people feel that by walking, they could create a greener environment.
A total number of pedestrians who participated exceeded 3,920,000 people.
